Keeping the laundry room organized and neat is one way to brighten your entire living space. But unfortunately, the laundry area is one of the most overlooked parts of a house. You don’t have to shell out hundreds of dollars to keep a living space spick and span. In today’s post, we are listing down simple tips to keep the laundry room organized, clean and stylish:

Sort Out Your Laundry Area

The first thing you need to do to create a tidy space is to organize all your laundry products. This helps eliminate clutter and free more space for other laundry tools. You want to designate separate areas for laundry, laundry products, laundry tools, and so on. Giving a small space to every component of your laundry tools is a quick way to achieve an orderly space.

Maximize the Space

Regardless if you have a spacious laundry area or a cramped one the size of a broom closet, make sure to maximize every square inch of the space. Installing ready-made shelves using screws is a great way to make the most out of your space. Go for compact shelves with simple designs to keep the room style crisp and sleek. You want to install the shelves on the opposite side of the window. Blocking the windows will give the appearance of a smaller space. You want to get as much natural light into the room as possible to make the space appear larger, brighter.

Concealing Laundry Items

Concealing all your laundry items is a quick, easy way to make the laundry area appear organized. Add a hanging rod on one area of the room then add boxes and decorative crates on the shelves. Use the hanging rod to organize drying clothes. The boxes and shelves will add even more storage space to an otherwise cramped laundry area. It helps avoid clutter too. Finish up with colorful curtains to conceal the washer and dryer and you are done!

Playing with Colors

Your color scheme will set the mood in a room. The laundry room is no different. Our advice is to use colors that soothe the eyes, like moss green, midnight blue or dark brown then add a lighter color of the opposite color family. This will add a calming vibe to the laundry area. The color scheme will also pull all the decorative components of the room together.

Add Laundry Bins

Laundry bins are perfect for sorting out your clothes. You can designate a certain bin for light colored clothing, dark-colored clothing, dirty and clean clothes. You can also designate a bin specifically for items that you need to be dry-cleaned. Adding decorative bins won’t just add a touch of playfulness in the room, it can also boost the functionality of your laundry area. You can get these bins at your local hardware store or specialty stores.

Storing Odds Bits and Ends

Install a small peg board using books and add small boxes and bins to store odds and ends like lint rollers, stain removing pens, and so on. A small peg board lets you add more storage space for smaller items so you avoid clutter.
