Creating an Organized Space

Let’s face it, kids are not known for their organizing skills. If you want to teach your kids to stay organized, their room should feature decors that double as storage space too. Adding coat racks, closet storage, decorative bins and benches provide much-needed space, especially for a cramped bedroom. You can also get large, colorful bins and stow them away on top of the closet or under the bed for added space.

Creating a Chalkboard Wall

Children are naturally creative, they love expressing themselves through doodles. Why not paint a small section or the entire wall with a chalkboard paint for a nifty wall they could doodle on? You can get chalkboard paint from your local hardware store. The paint comes in an array of colors to choose from. But if you are not sold to the idea of painting an entire section of the wall with chalkboard paint, you can get the kids a small chalkboard instead.

Glow in the Dark Ceiling

No children room is complete without a cool, glow-in-the-dark ceiling! Thankfully, you can make one by purchasing individual glow-in-the-dark stickers. Just stick ‘em on and when the light is out, the whole room will be bathed in a beautiful glow! Most glow-in-the-dark stickers come in different themes. You can get the classic solar system, a cityscape or even a Milky way set!

Installing Wall Decals

Add a touch of whimsy to your children’s new room by installing wall decals in fabulous patterns and colorways. These nifty wall stickers are affordable and come in a wide variety of patterns, themes, and styles. Even better, these decals are removable and reusable. The stickers do not leave out sticky residue on the surface of the wall. An even better way to decorate the room is to round up the kids and let them help you stick these cool decals.

A Memory Wall

Dress up bare walls with a great collection of pictures, artworks, and postcards. You can hang these up from a string installed on the walls or in front of the window. You can also clip ‘em up to a string, place them on the wall and create an interactive memory wall. Encourage your kids to create a large memory wall to remind them of happy memories!

DIY Magnetic Board

Magnetic boards are all the rage right now, why not makes a couple for your kids. You can do that by purchasing a sheet of galvanized metal at your local hardware store. Create a wooden boarder to conceal the edges of the metal and mount the magnetic boards on the wall. Get decorative fridge magnet and let the kids stick their favorite pictures, artworks and decorative items on the board!

A fresh coat of paint sets the mood in a space. If you are painting a children’s room, make the color palette soothing and cozy. Use pastel shades of pink, blue and yellow. You can also create different patterns such as polka dots to play up the space. You can also turn any furniture into a children’s furniture by repainting it with pastel colors.
