Small bathrooms can look spacious by tricking the eye. Because space is limited, you want to maximize every square inch of the bathroom. In today’s post, we are giving you designer tips to create a stylish, spacious bathroom:

Installing Shelves

Shelves are a great investment for cramped bathrooms. You can use the shelves to store all your bathroom essentials, including lotions and bath salts. You can also add designer baskets or printed bath towels as décor.

When installing the shelves, use all available vertical surfaces to give the impression of a roomier space. We recommend installing open shelves at eye level. Paint the shelves in the same color as the walls for seamlessness.  On the other hand, if there is no room for hanging the shelves, consider recessed shelving. You can maximize the empty space for storage. Recessed shelving is best for bathrooms with drywall.

Bigger Medicine Cabinet

If you have an old, small cabinet that barely have room for your toothbrush, consider getting a larger one. This will help maximize what little space you have in the bathroom. Modern medicine cabinets come with nifty features such as lockboxes or dedicated space for prescription medication. Some come complete with towel racks or coordinated closed or open shelving. Imagine all the bath essentials you can fit in a bigger, more stylish medicine cabinet.

Organize Your Bath Essentials

Organizing your bath essentials will free up more space. Plus, disorganized bottles of shampoos and bath gels is plain unsightly. Get a shower caddy. A shower caddy is an inexpensive organizer you can hang on the shower. Just add all products you use regularly to keep the place looking organized.

You can also get corner units that complement the color scheme of your bathroom. This creates a seamless look. You can also add wall-mountable shampoo or conditioner dispensers. These bathroom accessories are practical and stylish!

Adding More Space under the Sink

If your sink does not have a cabinet underneath, now’s the best time to install one or replace it with a sink that comes with additional storage space. This will give you more room to store your most-used bathroom items like towels and soaps.

Large Mirror

Do not underestimate the power of a large mirror. It can make a difference in small bathrooms. A strategically-placed mirror will reflect light and add depth to the space. It also does double duty as bathroom décor. Make sure to install the mirror in the area closest to the door. So when you open the door, it’s the first thing you see. This draws the eyes to the area, making the space seem larger than it really is.

Playing with Colors

As far as colors go, try to avoid darker colors. It will give the illusion of a cramped space. We recommend experimenting with light, neutral or cool tones. Muted grays, greens or yellows are perfect colors for small bathrooms. Off-white, light blue and taupe also give the illusion of a bigger space. If you want to add a pop of color, you can add bright decors to complement the neutral color scheme.
