Having a pool in your backyard is awesome! It’s the best way to gather people and have fun but with the many kinds of pools out there, choosing a good pool is challenging. Among the many kinds of pools that people own, fiberglass and concrete pools are among the best ones there is. Concrete Pools

If you want a really good pool, have it built with concrete materials. It’s durable and luxurious but as glamorous as that sounds, owning a concrete pools does have its ups and downs.

Pros

If the pool is built but a good builder then it can surely last for years and years. Concrete pools can last for a long time and may need little maintenance when cleaning. You can also be as creative as you want to be when designing your own pool since it’s made from concrete. You can go crazy and create one of the best shaped pools in your neighborhood! Lastly, a concrete pool is an excellent addition to your home. It will not only last for decades and generations to come but can also increase the property value of your house.

Cons

The problem with concrete pools is that it only applies to areas where the landscape is flat. If you live in an area where the land structures are steep, having concrete pool built in your backyard may be a challenge. It’s also high maintenance and may cost you thousands of dollars on maintenance alone. Since concrete is porous, it can be a good ground for germs. Another disadvantage is that concrete is rough and may cause abrasions. If you have kids then this is not the ideal pool to have. Plus it’s hard to remove especially if the pool is large.

Fiberglass Pools

Another type of swimming pool is one that is made from fiberglass. The use of fiberglass has surely expanded and is not limited to one or two things alone. In fact, fiberglass is the perfect material to use for swimming pool. Although this may seem like a good idea, it does have its advantages and disadvantages too.

Pros

Using fiberglass to build a pool is easy. In fact, you can install it and be done in a matter of days. All it needs is to be molded into the shape you want, dig a hole on the ground, place the mold and you’re done! Fiberglass is also smooth and non-abrasive as well as durable which makes it the best kind of pool material to use. They’re also easy to clean and maintain plus they’ve been proven durable. Fiberglass pools can withstand any kind of weather which makes it even better.

Cons

Since this is fiberglass, you are limited to size and form. You can’t really build a giant pool made of fiberglass as it can only be molded into a range of size and depth. It is also prone to cracks which can lead to cuts if not coated properly with the special coating that protects it from cracks and leaks.

Now that you know the pros and cons of fiberglass and concrete pools, the choice is yours. Make sure to weigh the pros and cons first before deciding. Doing so will save you money in the future.
