Since carpet cleaning can be expensive at times, it is best that you identify what kind of carpet cleaning you need and which ones will apply best to your carpets.

There are two ways that you can clean carpets; dry and wet. Both are great ways but as a home owner, you need to pick one that will suit your budget. After all, you don’t want your carpets ruined, right? So if you are thinking of hiring people to clean your carpet, it’s best to know what dry and wet carpet cleaning is all about first.

Dry carpet cleaning

This method involves the use of specialized machines in order to clean the carpet. This also involves the use of chemicals that permit no-moisture or very low moisture as part of the cleaning process. Dry carpet cleaning is one of the most common methods used in carpet cleaning and is also the quickest ways to clean carpets. In this process, dry chemicals are spattered on the carpet and are allowed to set for about 15-20 minutes. Once these chemicals penetrate the carpet, they stick themselves to dust and lock its molecular structure. A cleaner system will then brush the carpet before it is vacuumed. Dry carpet cleaning can be used in all types of carpet fibers. However, the right chemicals must be used if you want to maintain the color and texture of your carpet.

Steam carpet cleaning

Taken from its name, steam carpet cleaning involves the use of steam when cleaning the carpet. A fine spray is applied first which forces the water into the carpet to break up dirt. This fine spray is usually a combination of chemicals that allows easier cleaning and breaking down of dirt underneath your carpet. A vacuum cleaner is then used so the dirt and water is removed from the surface.

Conclusion

Carpet cleaning is a tough task especially if there is a stubborn stain that won’t go away easily. You can also do the dry and steam carpet cleaning on your own as long as you follow directions carefully and accordingly. However, if the job is too big for you to do alone, call the professionals. This way they can determine the areas to be cleaned and what method should be used. Doing so will definitely help you save money in the future.
