1.Use Old Pallets As Planters

Pallets are those pieces of wood that are pieced together to create a support structure for shipping containers. They are flat and are usually made of wood. At frist glance, people will not give these pallets a second look as they are just pieces of wood, but if you happen to one or a few lying around, then don’t throw it out just yet, because you can use these to create vertical gardens that are not only functional but will also look good wherever you want to place them. If you have enough space, it can also be a horizontal planter, perfect for herbs and other small vegetables. You can plant flowers or edibles using pallets and that is what makes it quite popular with DIY Gardeners. There are literally hundreds of sources online that will help you give creative ideas on how to make pallets into vertical planters. Before you get started though, make sure to inspect the pallet thoroughly and find out if it has been chemically treated to determine whether or not you can use it to plant edibles. After that, you have creative control and you can customize it to suit your needs.

Remember to do these before using a pallet as a planter:

Check the pallet for any damage or insect infestation, some insects thrive on wood and since pallets are made of wood, it’s better to check them for insects as well.

Check if the pallet has been treated with chemicals or paint of whatever kind, if it has been treated with chemicals, then you know you shouldn’t use to plant edibles in. If it hasn’t been painted on or treated chemically, go ahead and paint it, to prevent the wood from rotting, but make sure to use non-toxic paint.

Decide between a vertical or horizontal planter.
